The food is alright, but the service was so terrible during my visit that I don't plan to return. It seemed as though the service did literally everything wrong. When we first came on a Friday night in the restaurant was busy, so we were surprised when we were told only a 10 minute wait. They quickly changed that to a 20 minute wait, then a 45 minute wait, and by the time we were seated it had been an hour. I understand that the restaurant was busy, but they need a better system, as other patrons were complaining, too. Once we were seated it took about ten minutes to get our drink orders taken, then another ten to get our drinks. A drink was spilled on our table, and we tried and failed to get a server's attention to ask for napkins. Finally, a busbuy walking by casually asked if we need a rag and gave us his to clean the table. I find it pretty disappointing that this was the only help we received. Continuous mistakes were made as the night went on including a mistake in an order, having to ask for refills and napkins twice, and not getting enough silverware for our table. I was completely underwhelmed by the place, which seems like it has a lot of potential if they decide to make service a priority.

Its a sports bar/restaurant with an arcade and pool room. You know, the kind that has Patriots stuff all over the place. But they do have Stella on draft so i can't fault them there. Just remember hygiene(sp?) if you decide to go play video games after you're drunk. It never fails that whenever we go there, someone in our party comes down with a horrid cold or flu because they went right back to their appetizers after sitting on a fake motorcycle or attempting to play ski ball. Friends don't let friends eat germy. Believe it.

Typical pub food - and not good. The place is only good if you want to watch sports and have drinks. Went on a weekend night and there were so many guys and not many girls, so we felt like we were on diplay when we walked in the door. Not to mention the gestapo at the door, cop, bouncer, cashier - yes, you have to pay a cover. Probably better for a really young college crowd. Also, bartenders serving people out of order which left me standing there for a while. I won a gift card to use there - I probably will just give it away.

Bottom line, stick to the basics here. Dont get any of there fancy dishes. They cant seem to make them properly ever. The buffalo chicken dip is great and on tuesdays they do a $9.99 prime rib. Everything else i suggest to avoid except for basic bar appetizers. The arcade is definitely a bonus along with the pool tables. The place is huge but the music is soooo hit or miss. Its either country, awful band or if your lucky some ok hip hop dance music. The place usually tends to be the last minute crap shoot local spot to hit up.

They host UFC and they have booze. This makes me happy.

So prior to visiting this place my friends told me it was full of kids and not a place for adults. Boy were that 100% wrong. Yes their are kids but there is also a bar smack in the middle of the place. Charlie Horse is loud but not too loud. There are t.v's in every corner and on fridays and saturdays there is a cop their for our saftey which is great because the later it kids the more the kids are leaving and the adults are there to drink in eat. I felt welcome the second I went in, we went on a really busy saturday night and our wait was a 1/2 hour but we didn't mind we sat at the bar had some drink which are extremely cheap & we watched t.v. The bartender was so polite and helpful. When we were seated we had more drinks and our waitress was a pleasure. The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars in the food menu I was not that impressed, nothing that really stood out to me it was just the typical menu. However the food I got was amazing jsut the right portion and tasted great! Not to mention I was expecting a really high bill because of all the drinks and food but it was extremely reasonable. I think I found my new favorite spot!

The Charlie Horse is hit or miss. I'm not a smoker but I love the deck bar. The bartenders are always pleasant and they can hold a conversation with everyone, do their job, and make you feel like they enjoy talking to you. The food there is average. I think its menu is better than the Abington Ale House (owned and run by the same family). I am happy with my Play Station 3, so I haven't been on the arcade side in years. The night club side of the Charlie Horse is ok if you're to lazy to drive to Boston or Providence. It's location is perfect for meeting people from all around. It's right off route 24, and pretty much right in the middle of Boston and Providence. Now I know none of us would have a couple of drinks and then drive, but if you know someone who has been known to drink a couple beers then drive BE CAREFUL leaving that parking lot!! The West Bridgewater police officers love to wait up the street at the Shell station, and in the other direction after the Shaws corporate office.

I stop here all the time with my family when we are in the area. It has a good atmosphere with nice staff. I have never had the same meal twice, but everything I have tried has been the pretty good. The only meal I have not liked too much was the taco salad because there was not enough lettuce but a ton of salsa and sour cream so the proportions were off. Also, I am not too impressed by the kids menu, even though I have never had it myself. The kids food just looks like it has been heated in a microwave, but I guess most kids don't know the difference. However, one plus is that there is a nice outdoor seating option under a large canopy. We had a great time eating outdoors on a nice day while not having to worry about being burned by the hot sun. Overall, not a bad place to get decent food.

my boyfriend brought me here, as we had a good experience at the abington ale house (same owners, etc.), and this was more convenient that day, and had an arcade. the good: the arcade! so much fun to be had, by kids of all ages. the menu is literally exactly the same as all its other locations. the food is alright-ish, but slightly below average. the bad: service was... in passing. our server greeted us while she was arriving to our table (literally en route- not yet at our table), and asked questions while she was leaving. it was a saturday around 2:30pm. her section looked fairly empty. we deserved more attention. the food: we started off with the jumbo pretzel. while it arrived hot and fast, this was more like bread in the shape of a pretzel, than a pretzel. the flavor was lacking. the honey mustard sauce was far more honey than mustard, but the buffalo cheddar sauce was right on the money. my boyfriend's black russian sandwich was good enough, but inconsistently plated. when i asked for a bite, he said "be sure to get some of the roast beef.: well- there was none in my bite. his fries were lukewarm, and not worth eating. my santa fe chicken panini was just okay. first of all- it was not a panini. toasted bread does not make a sandwich a panini. secondly, the advertised cilantro on the menu description was 100% absent. the cole slaw i substituted for my fries was entirely generic and definitely not made on premises. the drinks: we both got tall beers. my boyfriend's curious traveler was appreciated, but my blueberry sea dog was unfortunately weighed down by an excessive amount of blueberries, which would normally be an appreciated garnish. in this instance, the amount was actually prohibitive, and made it difficult to drink my beer. we had a blast in the arcade, but i would definitely skip this spot and opt for somewhere else, just based on the food and service. the takeaway: the restaurant lobby boasts a poster board advertising a free appetizer for a 5 star yelp review. not cool. pretty sure that's because of all the legitimate negative reviews... i do not plan on returning.

The restaurant isn't clean. They keep the new ice bucket next to a tray where they dump used drinks. I watched a waitress pick seeds out of a lemon with her hands then put it in someone's drink. While another waitress used her finger to wipe spilled milk off the rim of a glass. Wouldn't pass board of health standards. I won't be back.

Supposed to be a family friendly place, bouncer asks for cover charge just to get in the door on weekends. Not worth it. There's also a sign that says "free appetizer for five star yelp review." Definitely not worth it. As with most places with a huge menu, the food isn't good. I would skip it

They have very rude, inexperienced staff. The bouncers on weekends (from 8pm on, sometimes earlier) are ridiculous. I went for dinner there on a Friday and they wanted a high cover charge. Told them I was just there to eat, since it is a restaurant and not just a bar, but was told I would have to pay the cover, then if I left within an hour I could get it back. I just left. The food is o.k. It's nothing to brag about, that's for sure.

So I came here with a friend that wanted to ride the mechanical bull that they have on Thursday nights. I had a feeling that I was in for hell, but whatever, I was prepared. First things first. The smoking section. I went to go out for a smoke, and the bouncer stopped me, and informed me that smoking outside the front door was not allowed. in order to smoke, I had to go all the way around, through the game room, and out the side door. Fine, but really, all that did was bring me behind a chain THAT WAS NEXT TO THE FRONT DOOR. As if this magical little chain could stop the smoke from wafting towards the door? Also, I felt like an animal at the zoo: "Hey kids look! That's the spotty lunged homosapien! They're a dying breed ya know. We shouldn't stick around too long near them as they WILL KILL US ALL! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! RUN KIDS!!! SECOND HAND SMOKE!!!!!!!" Anyways, I hate country music. I mrean really hate it, and on Thursday nights they have it aplenty. So if country line dancing is your thing, this is your place. Love cowboy hats? Come on down! One last thing. Nachos. Some of the worst nachos I have ever eaten. There was no cheese on most of the chips, and although they LOOKED impressive, really all they were were some chips with a gloppy mess thrown on it. Kudos for the lettuce though! Service was great EXCEPT for the keno girl. Not so nice.

Very unprofessional staff. Went through 3 different men with "staff" shirts on all telling me different things that their "manager" said. I'm curious as to where the manager even was? The "staff" were all standing in the corner staring at us gossiping until we left. The food was disgusting... Should have just stopped at McDonalds, fair warning do not come here...

The food is just okay. Drinks overpriced. Fun for the kids though. We like to bowl here and play in the arcade. My work had it's Christmas party here and the scallops wrapped in bacon were bad. When my boss addressed it they seemed annoyed. They tolerated our obnoxiousness though. It's a great place for a party or a night out with the kids. Just steer clear if the scallops.

I went to the Charlie Horse yesterday. It was nice out and we sat on the deck. The server was friendly and prompt and helpful. The draft beer was fresh and my wife's drink was good. We ordered food which was inexpensive as it was half priced appetizers. The food is ok. It fills you up but there really is nothing special about it. The Horse used to have racks of ribs and buffalo shrimp which were awesome. Now it's just a pile of mildly bland food, thrown onto a plate. Nothing special. The service and atmosphere was great which is why I gave this more than one star. (Although warning to those folks with kids, smoking is permitted on the deck). The piece that really got me, at the entrance of the restaurant there is a sign. The sign reads: Give us a five star rating on YELP and you will get a free appetizer and a $5.00 game card. So be leery about all of the five star readings you see. They are bribing people to give them false ratings. I for one will not sell out for 10-15 bucks worth of stuff, half of which is bland and tasteless!

The food and service were great. The problem was the clientele, I know I parked in the Lowe's parking lot, but the place was full of tools. Plaid shirts, skinny jeans, the whole deal. Awful atmosphere

I went here for my birthday. Luckily I got my salad for free because it was my birthday, otherwise not worth it at all! Those under 21 can't even sit at the same table as those over 21 unless with their parents. I gave the waitress my id and she didn't even say happy birthday. I know that's not that big of a deal but a good waitress would do that. She didn't have a good attitude the entire time and She seemed to look down on us. I've been there three times and the food is never that good. I could make the same thing if not better at home. I also thought there was line dancing on Thursday at 730 but when we left at 830 it still wasn't going on. There wasn't any music on. All I heard were loud people around me. Overall not the experience I was hoping for on my birthday.

The game room is fun but the food here is sub par. I have gotten several different items. The Mac and Cheese burger is good but the burgers taste awful. The pastrami sandwich also sucks. Overall I would avoid everything but the drinks and the games

If I could I would give 0 stars! We came here for date night tonight and the experience was terrible. The service was PAINFULLY slow (it was a tuesday evening) We ordered the bread for appetizer, it was raw and doughy inside, yuck. then ordered a drink, the glass was filled to the top with ice, the drink itself was about 3 sips. Then I ordered the chicken pot pie. It was a big plate of mashed potatoes with a thin layer of veggies with tiny shreds of chicken, I mean TINY. and crust on top. not at all what I would expect. They should call it mashed potato pie. We waited and waited for dinner, drinks were never refilled, then waited for the bill. Every ten minutes all the servers stop what they are doing to march around clapping and yelling Happy birthday. Completely annoying. Will never go back.

The food was pretty good. Much better than the service but that isn't saying much. The downer, the reason they aren't getting a good review from me is because I ordered a Shipyard and they brought me a Miller Light. I returned it and the replacement was a skunked Bud Light. Really not happy about it. Didn't want to be rude but the waitress noticed I wasn't drinking it and it was pushed off to the side and never addressed the situation. I really didn't appreciate it.

Food is not even good. Place is always mobbed with meat heads. Drinks are too expensive. Tons of wild kids everywhere. I totally hate this place. I always wanna give it another chance cuz it's right up the street, but it just blows so much.

I've been here before with my family and didn't have any issues. However, I went last night with my girlfriend, her sister and her sister's girlfriend. And our waitress, Kathleen O. was very unprofessional. When ordering our drinks, she didn't even wait for us all to order and just walked away before we could tell her. We had ordered drinks, and one of my friends didn't have their ID's, which is fine. So the rest of us ordered our drinks. Well she called the manager over and he told us because one of use didn't have our ID's that none of us were allowed to order drinks after that. Which was unfair, because looking around their were numerous minors at other tables with alcoholic beverages. Regardless of the horrible service from the waitress, I have to say the food that we ordered was very good and I asked her to give the chef a compliment for me, which I hope she did. So after dinner, we went over to the arcade section to play some games, and looking over our shoulders there were staff following us around everywhere , checking our every move. They wouldn't leave us alone and harassed us til we left. Before we left one of the staff members told us we had to show him our ID's AGAIN before we left, which we obviously didn't. It was just absurd, I've never EVER in my life experienced behavior like that at ANY restaurant ever. I was really disappointed. They were obviously discriminating against us because of our sexuality, and because of that, I will never eat at this restaurant against!

I had sometime between jobs and The Charlie Horse was directly in between the two locations so I figured I would swing by as it had been a while. Dining solo, I decided to sit at the bar which features a wide array of draft beers and TV's everywhere for your viewing pleasure. It took a little long for me to be acknowledged, especially considering the were employees in my general area talking about something on one of their phones. I was seated right next to the area for the wait staff to pick up their drinks so there was no way I was un-noticed. After I got my beer from my friendly male bartender I took a look at the menu even though I knew exactly what I wanted. I get the steak tips here because I enjoy the glaze, they've always been cooked well and it makes me feel somewhat healthy (for a change) to get steak and vegetables over the fried foods I usually eat. It took an unreasonable amount of time for me to place my order. I specifically made eye contact with EVERY member of the bar staff expecting them to come over and ask for my order... they did not. I had to ASK the bartender to take my order and she did accurately. I decided to try the Buffalo Chicken potato skins which were good but nothing I would come back for. The steak tips seemed to be a lesser quality beef than I had previously had there and the glaze was thinner and less in quantity. It was still tasty but not the dish I had enjoyed so much on several other occasions. After eating, a very friendly (and very attractive) bartender who may have been on the other side most of the time I was there ran my card promptly and I took off. Maybe it was an off night, I don't know... I really like the place but this experience wasn't the best. I'll give it another shot but I hope the steak tip quality isn't a permanent thing.

I think I had my first 15 birthdays here... And boy did I love it back then! To this day I have a box of ticket receipts from the arcade - if they'd honor them I could probably get a TV...or a million friendship bracelets...but those days are over. I have to laugh when I walk in and see the same outdated sports memorabilia on the walls from when I was 8. I stop laughing when I remember that I just paid $10 to get in here cause there is some awful DJ playing to a sea of white trash ass hats with tribal tattoos. Cozy up to the bar and enjoy the awkward camera panning back and forth over the crowd...my favorite feature. The clientele here is one of my major issues, which I probably shouldn't blame the establishment for, but I'm going to anyways. It's like the rejects that wanted a big night out but couldn't afford Boston or Providence, so they flocked here. The security (which I've worked security and know how awful it can be dealing with drunk idiot tough guys) need to relax. They yelled at my buddy once because he was wearing a baseball cap. Huh? He had to put it in his back pocket. Makes sense. There are maybe 2 decent bartenders, and they've been there forever, but other than that the service is always bad when I go. Ask for the pretzels and "cheese" - good stuff. "I'd love a delicious Miller Lite draught!" -said no one, ever. If you do though, it will only cost you like $2.50. Otherwise, things can get pricey here. The food is usually subpar, but it's not the worst thing ever. Sitting outside can be nice, they have propane heaters at almost every table, but staring at the parking lot and Rt. 106 is kind of depressing. Growing up, I lived for the arcade. You couldn't sit me down long enough to eat I was so busy shooting things, but now I feel like a pedophile playing arcade games, so I avoid it. After the arcade they have a bowling alley, which I haven't done because I find bowling to be the worst thing man ever created, but I've heard it's decent. If that's your thing, go for it. I want to love this place, I really do, because I grew up in it, but every time I get dragged here I stand there and feel like I'm at a high school prom where everyone pre-gamed their faces off and I have to chug Miller Lites to catch up. No friggin thanks.

Another pub grub restaurant. I did not expect anything to be off-the charts, but I have to say it was one of the best burgers I have ever had! Well-run, friendly and inexpensive - nice menu with something for everyone. Waffle fries are awesome - all fries should be waffle fries!

I wouldn't go here in the first place! They never change the games that they have. The prize lines take forever. They have horrible service. Most of the time there is nobody that fixes the games if they run out of tickets. And when I went there to eat I got chicken fingers and french fries and I found hair in my food.

Service was pretty friendly, game room is really small compared to somewhere like Dave and Buster's. Food was meh, the restaurant was extremely loud and busy, there was a table with a bunch of old women who were screaming and making a fool of themselves. Waitress never said anything to them.

  • Nikki R.

Went for a birthday and was not impressed. Had reservations for a big party, and our tables weren't pushed together. We had to accommodate ourselves, and move tables closer together as staff looked on. Might be cool to catch a game, but food is overpriced and just ok. Rather hectic and staff were unaware and not organized.

I give the food here a C- Why are there non-HD TVs in a sports bar in 2013? Why is the beer over-priced for such a poor selection? The food here is almost universally just so-so. This place is good for the kids. The arcade is small and they do have bowling. Poorly set up bar for watching sporting events, unfortunately. Outdoor area is really nice, though. They do have live music on the weekends. This place is really a mixed bag. So much potential.

  • Greg P.

Wow.... Very impressive when you walk in with all the TV's and the outside covered deck is pretty neat with TV's there too. Waitress was very nice but the food was just average. Seemed a little expensive for the Buffalo Tenders and Buffalo Shrimp with how many you get. I'd comeback again after a round of golf to have a few beers and watch a sporting event on the TV's but I would not go out of my way to go there. Just average....

I want to start off this review by telling you that the buffalo chicken wings are good. The buffalo chicken wings (hot style) are fantastic! I will be back for the wings. Oh, yes, I will! Ok, you know I dig the wings. The arcade side is a ripoff. In less than 30 minutes my son spent $27 bucks on games. The prize selection for the tickets won is ridiculous. The kids do like it though. There's also a bowling alley that we didn't use. It looked cool, maybe 6 lanes or so. Drinks galore. Sports memorabilia galore. People complain about the service in the reviews. It wasn't bad. If it wasn't for the wings, I would have given it 3 stars. But those wings!

  • Chris H.

I have no idea how people like the atmosphere in this place. It is dark, outdated and hideous. If you want to watch the game, then go there. There has to be a minimum of 30 TVs in the joint. If not, then go elsewhere. I ordered the bison burger, which must not be very popular because the ground bison tasted old and stale. The bun was soggy and the fries nothing to write home about. The liquor selection is HORRIBLE! They did not have the first 5 shots I tried to order (and they were Dr. Mcgillacuddy's mint, vanilla, rumplemintz, Stoli Blueberry, and Stoli anything!) The frozen drinks all contain vanilla softserve mix and they are TERRIBLE! The waitstaff were not very attentive and did not seem to care whether we were satisfied. I won't be going back any time soon.

    (1)
  • Justin M.

Easily avoidable for the younger crowds and obnoxious people that go there get drunk and act foolish. But that is typical with any bar. I only give them 3 stars because the bowling is so expensive and the games are kind of limited. I do love going here. It's an easy place to settle on for the night but if I wanna go and play games and its busy its tough to have fun or if its empty and I can fly through the games in an hour I just leave. I have no complaints about their drink prices, sizes, or freshness or temperature. Plus the menu is limited and the food is not really anything special. I do like the free meal on your birthday deal though.

Hadn't been here in nine months or so. Remembered it being decent in the past, but this time, the whole place felt sort of stale and half-assed. - We waited 3-5 minutes at the entrance to be acknowledged by a hostess. - I understand "working as a team" and all, but we had 4-5 different servers come by and drop things off during the meal. It just came across as disorganized. - Worst of all: at around 8:15 p.m., our waitress started VACUUMING a large area directly next to our table. If it's 10:00 and you're trying to shut the place down? Maybe. But if it's in the middle of dinnertime, and really just have to clean something up, get a broom and dustpan. - Maybe we picked the wrong night, but the clientele was a lot more, uh, "working-class" than I remember. Lots of screaming babies. Lots of dudes in sleeveless t-shirts. - The food was fine. I had the fish tacos...can't complain. I've gone there a few times in the last 2 1/2 years. The food's always okay enough, but unmemorable. The stuff on the wall's always the same. It's just sort of tired.

Oh, the Charlie Horse... Best things on the menu are Buff Mac and Tiki bar chicken, both pretty damn good. Gets sooo busy on Friday and Saturdays. I've seen the wait get to 2 hours... Im pretty sure Friday is live music, Saturday is a DJ and Thursday is country music. The service is slow on weekends, and the clapping is soooooo annoying.

If you plan on going here for sit down dinner, don't. First, on weekends at least, it's 21+ only after 7:00pm! So you better get in there quick if you like late dinners! Second, there's a COVER CHARGE at the door at this time on. What? Are we at a bar in Boston right now? Third, the food is okay, but WAY to expensive for what it's worth. Fourth, they automatically put a 20% tip on your check, then give you dirty looks as you walk out if you don't give them more $ on top of that. Last, the service is the WORST service I've ever received in any restaurant or bar. Absolutely not worth a 20% tip. I've given this place way too many chances because a few of my friends like it, and each time I was harassed by a worker. One time we walked in and had to pay a $10 cover charge, so I made a shocked face at my boyfriend as a reaction, and a "bouncer" snapped at me immediately and said "No ones making you come here!" ..awkward. Another time I was sitting at a table with friends and I ordered a beer. So the waitress brought all our drinks over (taking way too long, per usual) and as she's putting my beer in front of me, spills a bunch of it on my legs!! She said or did nothing, pretended like it didn't happen. Everyone at the table saw it and looked at her, too. Every female who works there has a hatred towards other females, I guess, because they love giving dirty looks for no apparent reason. I don't know why they are so unhappy, they are guaranteed a 20% tip at every table. My review? Save your money. No one should have to spend a cover charge at a crappy restaurant with awful service.

The food here is just ok. Other than the buffalo chicken dip there's not much I can suggest that you cant get anywhere else for the same price, same atmosphere, same quality. Typical bar pub food. Not a place to "Go out to eat", more of a place to watch a game and grab a few drinks My issue is with their management My girlfriend is 46 and was not let in due to not having an ID on her. Mind you, im 26 and presented mine, yet they can't use common sense and tell that the lady im with is AT LEAST older than me. She could've been 4 years younger than me and it would've been ok. Anyone with half a brain could've figured out she was over 21. I get this whole "I could lose my job" yaddah yaddah, but COME ON MAN! what a joke. I asked to speak with the manager about how absurd it is and it fell on deaf ears. Turned away at the door.

Went here for a luncheon with fellow co-workers and clients. They had washed the carpets the night before and this place stunk like a wet dog! It was so bad we could not enjoy our food. I brought it to the waitresses attention she laughed and said the floors were cleaned. I THINK NOT! Also they cram all the Lunch patrons in the same corner so deep so you have to excuse yourself to get in and out of your table! When there was an entire vacant dining room!? Service was immature and inexperienced. Everything left a bad taste in our mouths. I will never go back much less reccomend to anyone. I was embarrassed as I picked this spot. This place needs to clean up their act. Poor Business!

Boring, always the same crowd, and always STUPIDLY BUSY for such a huge bar. Takes quite a while to get a beer on a busy night. I only go because my best friend loves the place and I feel bad saying no when she's home from college.

My girlfriend and I went on Thanksgiving eve and my girlfriend was denied for having "invalid" identification. Unfortunately we just bought an apartment in New Hampshire and thus transferred her ID from Massachusetts to New Hampshire. This left her with a paper ID which they would not accept. Even with 4 alternative forms they said they could not legally sell her alcohol. My girlfriend is 23 and due to a lack of managerial authority was unable to get into a bar which she along with 20 of her friends had been planning for weeks. I talked with a police officer outside who validated her forms of ID and said the Charlie Horse was not worth the fight and to find a "better bar." Happy Thanksgiving all!

Food is typical pub grub. Very very slow service and lots of kids. Wouldn't go back. Oh and bowling is rediculously expensive.

I came here for the first time in probably 5 years and was immediately disappointed. It was my birthday and I knew they did a free entree for the birthday person so when I asked the host he said "of course!" And then I said it was just me and he said "that's OK, that's sometimes the best birthdays where you can relax by yourself". I was the. Seated and greeter by a annoyed looking waitress (this was usual as I could remember). I then ordered my drink and continued to look over the menu. When ordering, I prefaced with it was my birthday and I knew they did the birthday thing. She then told me that, "it only applies with the purchase of at least another adult entree"...I was saddened, but figured I was already here so what the hell. Over the years I have kept coming here hoping to one day have a great experience, but I am always disappointed. Honestly, I think this establishment has fallen from its glorious years as a kids birthday party restaurant/gaming extravaganza. If you are looking for sub-par food, annoyed/unpleasant staff, and low-resolution TV's then this is your place...otherwise, save your money or go to the 99 where the food is better and so is the atmosphere.

This place was on the way home from where we went car shopping, so decided to stop. We have been here before & we always go to their sister restaurant the Abington Ale House. The food is pretty good, when you get it. You basically are waiting like forever for it. The place is huge, it has an arcade of all video games & I guess they just added some bowling alleys too, so I guess I could have gone & done that instead of waiting at my table, the waitress was so apologetic, so instead of apologizing, go check on when are food is coming out? I guess all she does is places the order & other servers bring out the food from the kitchen. We basically waiting 40 minutes for a steak tip dinner & panini sandwich, but the food was hot when it came out?? Overall, food is good but the service sucks.

Yes... I do like to take my kids to the charlie horse... it is very fun and al lthe people that work in the kids fun area are sooo helpful and do a great job when a machine gets jammed or something. I always have fun but as it has sooo much stuff there it can be a little ciaotic when watching my child. It is worth it because they do love going there.. Food is good, dont really go for the food but I really like the salads, great selection of salads. ! I do not go on a regular basis because I find i spend too much money on the entertainment of my kids there... they blow through the money on the games, but that is to be expected . They do offer Maureen Hancock nights and I love her.. one of these times i would love to go for that , and not for my kids !

I came here several times when I was in college...pre 2008. I recently moved from the city to Raynham and had been feeling like giving the charlie horse a try again. So one of my buddies was visited and we decided to go grand some grub, beers, and play some buck hunter( well i hoped they had buck hunter). We we drove down there sat at the bar and had a great waitress. I had a few beers, by buddy had some black and tans, which she made very well and then we wanted some food. She gave us a menu and it looked great, a ton of options. We both decided on the bison burger which was amazing. We got our check and decided to hit the games section. They had buck hunter, and it was like a 75 inch hd buck hunter. Amazing! They had a ton of games which was great. To make a long review short, it was great and I will absolutely be back again.

A friend and I were looking for a bar in the Quincy area to watch the UFC fight, but were out of luck. Lucky for us, she discovered that The Charlie Horse was playing it, so we decided to make the half-hour road trip down to West Bridgewater. Cover for the UFC fight was $10, which wasn't really too big of a surprise--after all, the bar is paying for Pay-Per-View. There were lots of TV surrounding the bar/restaurant, so it was worth it. We started out at a table where we ordered appetizers. (What they have is standard bar food. Nothing to knock or rave about.) Unfortunately we were rushed soon after we got our food because they had to remove all the tables to make way for the incoming crowd. We were a little annoyed to have to get up so soon without much of a warning, but our waitress was pretty nice so we shrugged it off...and then all was forgiven when we spotted one of the cute bartenders. Ladies, trust me--you'll enjoy the eye candy. What you might not enjoy so much is the music selection--I felt like I'd traveled back in time 5-10 years! Now, there are some songs that will forever be staples in the club (or in this case, bar with a dance floor); however, four Nelly songs in one night hasn't been acceptable since 2003. But if your drunk, you might just let that one slide. As for drinks, there's a pretty good selection of beers and the alcohol is fairly priced. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Charlie Horse for a big night out, but I wouldn't mind stopping by again for another UFC fight or if I just so happened to be in the neighborhood.

As a life-long resident of West Bridgewater, without exaggeration, I have been to The Charlie Horse hundreds of times. While in the last few years I've only been maybe once or twice a year, the quality has always managed to remain the same, which in a restaurant is not always easy to accomplish. Their menu offers quite traditional pub grub fare with burgers, sandwiches, wraps, and salads. They also offer dinners such as chicken & steak fajitas, steak tips, country fried chicken, etc. In addition they do offer daily specials on their "sports page". The occasion for my most recent trip was to celebrate my birthday! If you go on your actual birthday (not the day before or after!) and tell your server, your meal is compliments of the house (drinks not included). Just make sure to present your valid picture ID when you order (and don't forget to tip your server based on the bill before they remove your free meal!). For my dinner I decided to try one of their daily specials, Scallops Au Gratin, tender sea scallops baked in a creamy white sauce topped with spinach and breadcrumbs to add a crispy finish. The dish was delicious and was served piping hot. I got a side of garlic mashed potatoes, which were tasty, though kind of uninspiring. I ended up adding some butter, a heavy amount of pepper, and a few dashes of salt to get it up to par. In addition we got a side loaf of break ($1.50) which came out nice & hot. For an appetizer we tried the buffalo chicken dip, which is a spicy cheese sauce with shredded chicken, topped with some Tabasco sauce, and served with tortilla chips, carrots, and celery. I've had this appetizer countless times before but the dip was not very cheesy and the chicken was pulled in rather large chunks instead of being shredded. It was still a tasty treat. Since it was my birthday our server brought me a birthday cupcake and sang Happy Birthday, which is a nice touch. Other highlights from their menu are their burgers, which usually aren't too hard to screw up, but they exceed expectations. Their loaded "macho" nachos are quite possibly one of my favorite items on their menu covered with melty cheese, chili, and all the fixin's. Another favorite of mine is their buffalo chicken mac & cheese, spiral macaroni covered with delicious cheese sauce, huge chunks of buffalo chicken, and sprinkled with buffalo sauce. I always ask for bleu cheese and just pour it all in there, its one of my all time favorite comfort foods. Our server was courteous and friendly and our orders came out in a very timely manner. Despite their giant cups of soda, I was able to put down a few, and The Charlie Horse walks a fine line between being exclusively a sports bar & entertainment hub and a family restaurant. Over the years they have expanded their floor space into the adjacent units in the building. What used to be a tiny arcade with ski-ball, a few ticket games, an ice hockey table, and Aerosmith's Revolution-X is now a giant area with dozens of games. In addition to their arcade area (one of the remaining few in the area) they also have billiards, and their just-opened bowling alley. Also they opened up an outdoor patio/deck with a full bar & TVs so that if guests want to enjoy the nice fresh air (or a cigarette) they can do so. The Charlie Horse is a SPORTS bar, and they certainly don't fall short on this. The walls are adorned with autographed sports memorabilia ranging from Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins, and other local & national sports figures. They have at least forty flat screens and projection TVs around the premise so if you're looking to catch that playoff game or big fight; it's almost a guarantee that they'll be showing it. They also offer a variety of entertainment from live bands, DJ's, and comedians on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Keep in mind usually there is a cover charge which usually ranges from between $5 and $10. Just a word of advice, usually on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday the restaurant will be packed, so calling ahead is a good idea, especially if you do have a big party. That said also, if you're looking for a nice quite dinner at an intimate setting, perhaps this is not your best choice. They frequently have large parties, many of who have children. Parking does come at a premium, because of the limited nature of their parcel of land, it does not allow for a lot of front row parking, however they did just recently expand their parking by the entrance at the street and parking is also allowed in the lot at Lowes right next-door, you simply may just have to walk an extra 300 feet. The Charlie Horse is conveniently located right off of Route 24.

This place is awesome. Everything a guy would want. Probably 50 TVs, Pretty girls, even an arcade to play pop and shot and stuff. I meet my buddies here about once a month and we have a great time. The food is pretty good too. Thursday night is country night which I usually avoid, but have been there on that night and had fun

Was in the area for a meeting and stopped in for lunch. 3 plates for 3 guys, standard fare except for the chili which was gruesome. Burnt cheese on top, old tasting chili underneath. I had a Thai salad which was essentially a Cobb saled but without the chopped eggs. Really good, really fresh, really hit the spot. The other guys had chicken wings, soup and the chili. Standard. The one thing that was phenomenal was the whole sport look. Probably 60 televisions, tons of sports memorabilia (all Boston...boooo) and just an awesome feel to the place. I would loooooooooooooooooove to go back just to watch a playoff hockey game. 6 stars out of 5 for the sports vibe alone. Feels like Cheers for armchair quarterbacks!!!!!

The Charlie Horse has been around since I was a kid. However, I don't know why, everytime I go, I think I'm going to like it again as much as I did back in the day. Not happening. They've done some nice renovations over the years with an outside deck & a new bowling alley, but it's still only good for one thing: arcades & kids. (Ok, that was two things.) The food has never been anything to write home about, but on a good day, the kitchen makes a slammin' buffalo chicken dip as well as buffalo mac n' cheese. Everything is too overpriced for the quality, in my opinion. There are lots of tvs which are great for game nights, but be weary of the time...come in after 8/9pm & you're charged a $5 cover. Cuz oh, didn't you know?...The Chuck Bucket's considered a "night club" these days.

I came here a few years ago and had a good time. Great food and fun games. However, I came here recently for my 21st birthday experienced neither of those. For starters our server showed no interest while serving is; she barely even cracked a smile! We had to ask multiple times for little things. Just very unsatisfactory service. Now the food... I ordered the steak tips. The only good thing about them was I didn't have to pay (Birthday guests eat free). The drink I had with my meal (Watermelon Colada) was disgusting! And when I asked for a glass of water, waited 15 minutes to get it. I think this place is great if you're looking to sit at the bar and watch the game on one of its 20 TVs, but that's about it.

I admit it, I'm a little bit country. Okay, I love country music. It reminds me of home... So when I heard on the radio that there's a bar near Boston that plays country music, I HAD to go. And what an experience it was... First, I'll get it out of the way with - driving to Bridgewater from Boston sucks, but the festivities don't start until 9:00, so traffic is gone by then. Still, drive = lots of suck. Once you get there, you'll find a diverse crowd, certainly more so than I expected. There were a bunch of 'older' folks - I'd say in the 40-60 age bracket - who came for the line dancing. Mostly women, but one guy with a John Deere trucker cap (he looked about 65 but probably was in his early 50s) looked like he was drunk as all get-out and about to crash into the sound equipment, but he turned out to be an incredible dancer with an unusual style. Then came the working stiffs - a bunch of guys nursing Bud Lights at the bar, wearing stained work shirts with their names across the breast pocket, and it wasn't a fashion statement. Then the boys - a pack of guys in their early 20s wearing shorts and t-shirts, gripping Coronas and Buds and drooling over the ladies. Far too cool to dance, they just hovered and joked with each other. Ah yes, the ladies. Ladies love country music, and they came in flocks to the Charlie Horse, clad in short denim skirts and cowboy boots. It was an impressive sight to see. I wouldn't be surprised if most of them were not local, but down from the city for the music & dancing. All in all, the Charlie Horse on a Thursday night is a pretty entertaining venue. They host a 'Country Idol" with locals singing country songs backed by an in-house cover band. It's hit or miss in regards to talent, but pretty entertaining regardless. The rest of the night the cover band plays with its professional singer; they're mediocre in terms of talent, but they put on a fun show (mostly country top 40). Line dancing is in full effect, with couples dancing off to the side. The rest of the Charlie Horse is a pretty average suburban sports bar/banquet hall. There's a room full of nice pool tables, another room with a large but run-down arcade. The walls are covered with TVs, sports memorabilia, and the occasional dead animal head (mostly in the pool hall). The bar, frankly, sucks. I imagine 99% of the drinks they sell are served in a bottle, so there's not much emphasis elsewhere. I ordered a martini, and I swear the bartender had to go in back and look up the recipe (it came out with WAY too much vermouth in it, and the bar didn't have any olives). Overall I'd give the Charlie Horse itself 2 stars, but 4 stars for country night, just because I had so much fun. I know country fans are few and far between in Boston, but if anyone wants to go down, I'd go again in a heart beat.

BEST buffalo chicken mac & cheese EVERRRRR ... other food isn't bad either, fajitas, seafood bake, etc.. all amazing.. .and FREE meal ON you're bday makes it even better :D also a fun place to go dancing on the weekends :) lost a star for charging WAY too much on a weekend night, and for getting rid of those pool tables for bowling lanes... if I wanted to BOWL i would go to the BOWLING ALLEY!! free pool on Tuesdays was the BEST, and I always looked forward to getting some mac & cheese while the hubby played pool :(

Came here about 2 months ago for mine and a coworkers b'day. You get a free meal on your birthday so I figured it was a good place to go!! Love free stuff. It was lunch break, and we have an hour. I didn't see any problem with getting lunch within an hour. Well, it was a problem. We got there, sat down, ordered our drinks, and when she came back, ordered lunch. 30 minutes later, our lunch wasn't there. After 45, we asked for it to be wrapped to go when it came out, because we were already late to be back to work. Still no food, so we were about to leave when 50 minutes later, it finally came out. But the waitress didn't drop the check, it took her a good 10 minutes to do that. We had all of our cards out so we could pay and go, and it took her another 10 minutes to come get our cards. At that point, we were furious, so we asked for a manager. I went to the bathroom, and walked into the waitress and manager complaining about us!! Totally unacceptable. Then the manager comes up to us and talks to us like it was our fault that the meal came out late? I don't think so. How long does it take for 3 salads and some fried chicken? 20 minutes, tops. Anyway...we ended up getting our bill taken care of but it was such terrible service, I will never be back.

Decent enough sports bar owned by the Barrett Restaurant people(other Charlie Horse is in Kingston and is much smaller, also own 3-4 Barrett's Ale Houses on the southshore. Game room so the divorced dads can drink on kid's visit weekend while pretending to spend quality time with junior. A must go place for twentysomething first dates if you are a local. Also "the" place to hang on a Sat night (again, only if a local...Boston folk stay away unless slumming). Decent chow, although stick to the basics. I did have a Carribean style pork sandwich with pineapple salsa and cilantro may that was very good. Fries suck (crispy, tastless greasesticks) so opt for chips or tater salad. All in all, a fun place to go and grab a bite and a beer, watch the game or catch some tunes. They charge a cover on Sat nights which I find ridiculous and would avoid.

You might go to the Charlie Horse just for the games or the beer, but I go for the... food. Yes, the food, because the Charlie Horse is really good for food. I highly recommend their buffalo chicken dip starter, it is probably one of the most innovative dishes that I have ever had. Imagine a buffalo chicken dip... it's like a fondu with spicy buffalo chicken pieces and bleu cheese. Again, I'm one for burgers, and they make a great burger. It may take slightly long for your food, but it is well worth it. Play games while they are making your food. So what if the games are for kids? They're nothing but fun. The restaurant is excellent and I highly approve of this place. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because sometimes there are frivolous kids around, not the place's fault, but still pulls it back from a 5. Cactus Approved.

Being originally from the area, I have been to this place numerous times. Normally when I was in college. It was pretty fun but expensive. After growing out of that stage I moved out of state and decided to visit with my girlfriend and her parents. We went to the entrance and were greeted by a bounce and cashier. They charged a ridiculous fee to everyone. I was last to give them my id. Guy takes it, doesn't even look at the DOB and says we don't take out of state ids. Mind you he only checked my id and my gfs id. I asked him what do you need credit cards other government ids? What about an expired mass id. He said no. Mind you there is a detail cop standing right next to him. If he had any doubt of me being of age, he probably would have questioned me.... but he probably realized I was in my 30s..... So pretty much, not only is the drinking age there 21 but you have to be a current mass resident.... From what I hear the place has gone down hill from what I remember

I would have given a decent review but the bartender in the arcade (Dillon) blatantly ignored us to take care of his friends and clean dirty glasses. Not to mention he was the slowest bartender I had ever seen in the first place. Don't go here unless its your birthday to take advantage of a free meal because that's the only thing that would make this slow place worth it. Takes way too long to get in the door wait for your seat forever, then wait for your food forever.

  • Brian G.

From my experience it wasnt all that great but i would still give it a thumbs up as a good place to watch a game. The food was decent and the menu was pretty basic sports bar food. What it lacked in inspiring dishes was made up for with large and cheap portions. I ordered steak fajitas and a clam chowder and i was pleased with both. My big complaint was the service. Our waiter seemed very unnatentative and i waited almost 20 minutes for my bloody mairy which was extremly week. In fact all our food took a long long time. If i was here for dinner and not a game i think i would have been angry. Which brings me to what saved the day. There is probaly 50 tvs in this place including the largest and most clear projection tv i have ever seen. All in all i would go here again but only on a sunday afternoon if u catch my drift

A friend of mine who grew up in the area decided to have her birthday party out in Bridgewater at the Charlie horse. The place is a huge sports bar with flat screen TVs everywhere, pool tables, a stage for live bands and an arcade full of games. I got to the bar after 10:00 and they had a pretty decent cover band playing on the stage, and a decent selection of beers on tap. This place is pretty far from Boston so, I mean it is past Ikea which is pretty much the end of the earth to me, so because it was way out there I couldn't really drink thus it looses major points. A lot of the people who go to the bar have a hint of white trash to them, a conversation I had went something like this: "oh, cool you came with your sister to celebrate... celebrate what?.?.?... Oh, you just got out of prison, good for you." And again the place looses some more points. Anyway after a while my friends and I decided to hit up the arcade, this was a decent time, but unfortunately many of the machines were broken and had tape over the coin slots. We tried playing the dance-dance revolution clone and that was pretty fun, and they have about 3 varieties of big buck hunter. In the end it got towards the end of the night and we had a bunch of tokens left over so we played skiball got a bunch of tickets which we then traded in for ring pops and got the heck out of there. We walked out, and I looked around the parking lot thinking to myself, I wonder how many people have been stabbed here after getting out of this bar? But I was with a lot of women, so I kept that thought to myself. I don't think I'll be going back, this place is just to far away and doesn't have anything special to draw me back.

Great for groups, the service is hit or miss, the live music is cool. They have an arcade, pool tables, big bar area, and big dining area. In the summer they have a tent for outside feshtas. Always a good time, I have been going for years.

Why you should go to the Charlie Horse: Because you're in Boston, so where the hell else are you going to find a country night? Three friends and I descended on the Charlie Horse for Country Idol, a karaoke contest for the brave or deluded (To be fair, there were some good singers. Rock on.) Danced with the cowboys, but were hopelessly outmatched by the line-dancing women who clearly knew their shit. So the next time you're sitting at home on a Thursday night thinking, "Man, I really wish I were surrounded by people in cowboy hats," remember country night at the CH. Because at least one of the servers is awesome. I loved our chatty waitress. Why you might not return to the Charlie Horse: The food - overpriced. The drinks - bad mixed drinks (I tasted my friends') and seriously lacking bar (they were out of the first two kinds of beer I asked for.) The atmosphere - it is what it is. Sports paraphernalia, noisy kids, and bad perms.

We held a big 50th Birthday Bash for Big Bad Bill, my brother in law, just yesterday at this place. It is huge......You don't even realize how big it is at first, because of the layout. It was also chock full of Patriots fans, all wearing jerseys. There was even a Patriots cheerleader, doing a promo, which made all the middle aged men very happy.... Food good, though a wee pricey for what you get. Most sandwiches are up around the ten dollar range. Portions are really big, though. Beer good, and reasonably priced. The staff who took care of us were top-notch. Really, those gals worked their butts off, and were sweet, too. Since my sweetheart dumped a very large soda in my lap, right in the beginning of the party, I spent awhile sitting and hiding my soaked crotch (love ya, honey). But after I dried out enough to walk unembarrassed among the throngs, I discovered the Video Game Room. Now we're talking! This place is what Dave and Buster's ought to be. Good games, staff around, and no skeevy perverts. They have Buck Hunter, for the maniacs who love it!

Man, I've been to the Charlie Horse so many times since I was younger. Sports bar, arcade...though the arcade is seriously lacking in comparison what it used to be ten years ago, even five years ago...but I guess the lack of production in arcade games can partially contribute to that happening. But serious, Pump it Up? Why the fuck do arcades have that instead of DDR now? Anyways, the food is and has always been mediocre. Though when I went last time they had buffalo chicken in pasta shells and it was like, the best combonation of food I have never thought to see or try before. Granted, it was chicken and velveeta tossed with Red Hot sauce, but hey. Now I put Red Hot sauce in my mac n cheese. I can't say much for the nightclub as I'm not old enough for the bar (6 more months!) but it kinda sucks that when I've just wanted to go to play arcade games or get something to eat they won't let you in if you're under 21 after 7 or 8. Lame.

When my NY Giants are not on local TV - I head to the Charlie Horse. Get there early for a good seat and will spend $30 on beer and lunch. Bison Burger is a favorite, although I've recently imposed a moratorium on burgers since everyone over cooks them now. Fish and Chips also good. A complaint is that you can't get onion rings on the side ..... hey I'm here alone, the plate is huge (as they zoom past) and I just want to give them a try. Come on. Usually some good conversation and there's usually some pretty girls. Not a bad way to spend a few hours on a Sunday.

Probably the best sports bar in the area. Lots of flat screen TVs. Has lottery and a good size arcade for the young and young at heart. With that said, the food here is about as average as it gets. I've tried about 10+ dishes here over the years and all fine. Had better, had worse. Not a bad place at all with decent prices. Would recommended for drinks, appetizers, and a game.
